How do I place a bid?

First you must register. Do not create multiple registrations with different emails! Make sure you provide the correct contact information. We use it to process your purchase if you win the auction. We do not share your information.

By registering, you are agreeing to act in accordance with the terms of service. When you have registered, check your email. We will send your password to you.

Once you have your username and password, scroll all the way to the bottom of the auction listing, where it says "Place A Bid". Enter your username, password, and bid amount. Then click the "Place Bid!" button.

Can I just email you my bid?

DO NOT email bids to the webmaster. Bids submitted via e-mail are not valid and will not be included in the auction.

You do not need to email the webmaster a notice of your bid, either. The auction software tracks all bidding, and the webmaster can view the bidding status at any time.

I changed my mind. Will you retract my bid?

All bids are final! Do not place a bid unless you are willing to commit to paying that amount should you win the auction. Do not email the webmaster asking that a bid be retracted. These requests will not be honored.

How should I decide my maximum bid?

Do not place a bid that you cannot afford to pay within 24 hours of the auction closing. A bid is a legally binding contract.

Consult our specials page, www.myrtle-beach-resort.com, to see how much the package would cost you through our call center. Use that amount as a guide for your bidding.

Be aware that in the busy summer and winter holiday months we sometimes sell out, and auctions can be the only source for short-notice reservations. In this scenario, bidding more than the call center rate would make sense.

What is a reserve price?

The reserve price is the lowest price that a seller is willing to accept for an auction. The seller sets the reserve price at the beginning of the auction. If the bidding does not reach the reserve price, the seller is not obligated to sell the merchandise. This protects the seller from incurring a financial loss.

I want to know the reserve price before I bid on an auction. / Why don't you just start the bidding at the reserve price?

We do not disclose reserve prices, nor will we start the bidding at the reserve price. This policy protects our bidders from inflated auction prices. The following scenario explains our logic:

Assume that the reserve price for an auction is $400.

Scenario A:
We disclose the reserve price. Bidder #1 decides that the reserve is reasonable, and bids $400. Five or six people bid after that, and the auction ends up closing at $800. We would have sold the package through our call center for $600. The winning bidder did not achieve his or her goal of obtaining merchandise at a discount rate.

Scenario B:
We do not disclose the reserve rate, and start the bidding at $100. Four or five people bid, and the auction closes at $500. We closed out our inventory with an acceptable profit margin, and the auction winner obtained merchandise at less than retail rates. This is a win-win situation.

I won the auction, but I want different dates and/or a different type of room.

You cannot change the dates or room-type of an auction you have won. Please read the details of the auctions carefully, and ask any necessary questions BEFORE you bid. A bid is a legal contract to purchase the described item in the event that you are the high bidder.

Why can't I view the closed auctions?

You can only view closed auctions on which you placed a bid.

I want to know if you have availability on other dates than your posted auctions.

Please call our Reservations Department at 1-888-627-3767. They will be happy to assist you.

How do you choose which properties/time slots go up for auction?

Each week, we review our projected occupancy rates. If we feel that there will be unfilled vacancies, we post those units in our online auctions. This is a great chance for you to get reduced pricing!

Are the rooms that are placed for auction the same quality as the rooms that you sell through your call center?

All of our rooms are the same quality. We do not reserve certain rooms for online auctions, and others for call center sales. A room that is up for auction this week may have been available for booking through the call center last week. There is no difference.

How do I know which building the room is in?
